Odelman, Eva Image 1
Eva Odelman was awarded her doctorate in 1972 at Stockholm University with a thesis on Caesar’s language. Having spent brief periods as a teacher and working at upper secondary schools, Eva was appointed to Stockholm University as editor of the Glossary of Medieval Latin in Sweden. This was a project under the auspices of the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, initiated a few years earlier by Ulla Westerbergh.

After 28 years of work, the glossary was completed, and Eva Odelman was awarded the title of professor on this occasion. Eva was also employed at the National Archives for part of the project period. Alongside her work on the glossary, Eva Odelman published a large number of academic papers and books, and taught Latin at Stockholm University.

During the final years of her career, Eva Odelman worked on Ars Edendi, a research project involving numerous participants, mainly from Stockholm University, which task was to publish ‘model sermons’ from the Middle Ages. The project has not yet been fully completed, but Eva Odelman has concluded her part of the work by publishing Sermones Moralissimo by Nicolai de Aqvaevilla (Corpus Christianorum, Continuatio Mediaevalis, approx. 700 pages).
